What is Jyeshtha Adhika Maas?

In the Sanatan tradition, every moment holds spiritual significance — but Jyeshtha Adhika Maas, also known as Purushottam Maas, is considered one of the most auspicious periods in the Hindu calendar. This extra (adhika) month appears once every few years to align the lunar and solar calendars. It is believed to be directly presided over by Lord Vishnu — the Purushottam, the Supreme Being. That alone makes every act of goodness performed during this time immeasurably powerful.

Why This Month Is Spiritually Significant

The scriptures teach us that any prayer, fast, charity, or selfless service carried out during Purushottam Maas yields manifold blessings — blessings that go far beyond what is possible in ordinary months. Ancient texts describe this period as a rare window of divine grace, where the gates of merit are wide open for every sincere soul.

It is a time to step inward through devotion and step outward through compassion. Darshan, chanting, fasting, and performing religious rituals all carry heightened spiritual value. But above all, feeding the hungry, caring for the sick, and uplifting the helpless are not just good deeds during this month — they are considered true worship of the Divine.

Narayan Seva Sansthan’s Mission This Purushottam Maas

Narayan Seva Sansthan, under the visionary leadership of Prashant Agarwal, embraces this sacred month as an opportunity to deepen its mission of serving specially-abled children and underprivileged communities. This Jyeshtha Adhika Maas, the Sansthan has set a noble goal — to help 5,000 differently-abled children stand on their own feet through free corrective surgeries, 3D-printed Narayan Modular Artificial Limbs made with Japanese and German technology, and nutritious meals.

Your Donation Can Change a Life

Behind every statistic is a child who once only watched others run and play. A child whose only question was — “Will I ever be able to walk?” Your donation this Purushottam Maas can change that story forever.

The Sansthan has already served over 4.5 lakh corrective surgeries and distributed nearly 40,000 artificial limbs — a living testament to what collective compassion can achieve. This sacred month, let us add to that legacy and become part of something truly divine.

Donate. Serve. Be Blessed.

True virtue is that which brings about a real change in someone’s life. This Jyeshtha Adhika Maas, take a resolution — to make the life of a specially-abled child happy, hopeful, and full of possibility.
